Audio
Our Low Power Spectral Band Replication (LP-SBR) technology was accepted into MPEG-4 Audio Extension-1 Standard. This technology provides a new approach for audio compression, resulting in high sound quality and wide bandwidth at very low bit rate. It has been adopted by 3GPP Standard. When combined with the AAC core coder, it becomes the well-known AAC+ technology. When combined with the AAC core coder and Parametric Stereo (PS), it becomes the Enhanced AAC+.

Low bit rate multi-channel audio coding with backwards stereo/mono decoding compatibility using spatial audio processing technique is emerging. This spatial audio coding technology is currently being standardized by MPEG-4 Audio.

Scalable audio and speech coding with fine grain scalability is currently being considered for standardization by MPEG Audio Subgroup.
Speech coding is used for ITU-T standardization.
· conducting research on state-of-the-art digital audio classification and retrieval algorithm. Audio retrieval technology is based on MPEG-7 Standard.
· developing digital audio coding DSP firmware.
We achieve this by using Panasonic’s advanced DSP platform for product development, e.g. SD Audio player, DVD player, HDD Audio player and etc.
